Freeriding and alpine skiing
Valsesia
A PARADISE FOR FREERIDERS
High Valsesia is a land of challenges in winter, with the exceptional thrills only the white valleys of Mount Rosa can provide in boundless spaces where you can practice some of the most exciting and adrenaline-fuelled winter sports.
FREERIDE PARADISE: ADRENALINE AND LOADS OF FUN
Its fame precedes Valsesia, the freeriding paradise, a brand of absolute excellence in the tourist sector. Thousands of winter sports enthusiasts yearly respond to its call. Off-track skiing is the ideal discipline for adventurous experts, and the Alagna mountains are one of the best settings in the Italian Alps.
Tens of kilometres of descents down breathtaking slopes, with an exceptional view where Mount Rosa reigns supreme in all its majesty. The Monterosa Ski District offers the perfect conditions for all freeriders with the lift leading from the Salati Pass to the Indren Peak, the starting point of countless medium and high difficulty routes.
ALPINE SKIING: ENDLESS OPTIONS
The fun does not only stop at the off-track areas of the district, but also extends to the numerous slopes that Valsesia offers alpine skiing enthusiasts. There are countless options to cross the snow with sealskin and free heel, ranging from long and difficult routes to simpler and shorter outings. Go up the slopes and descend either along the runs or off-track, exploring the valley’s typical forests and mountains.
When snow covers the mountains, Valsesia becomes the perfect playground for all those who love to freely climb and descend the slopes with skis on their feet.

The side valleys present several routes suitable for everyone, such as the ascent in Val Grande, between the Sorba valley’s mountains, towards Valsesia’s Mount Bo; Colle di Rima or Colle del Termo in the Sermenza Valley; the climb from Rimella towards Mount Capio in the Mastallone Valley or the ascent to Pizzo Tracciora or Massa del Turlo further down the valley, near Varallo.
For the more experienced, the Mount Rosa massif offers breathtaking ascents and descents. The most sought after is undoubtedly Capanna Margherita, which is magnificent in its winter guise. Corno Nero (4322 m), Piramide Vincent (4215 m) and Punta Giordani (4046 m) are equally impressive.
The Zermatt Tour is a must. This magnificent route crosses the heart of Mount Rosa, offering you the opportunity to admire all its peaks, and the ascent through the alpine pastures of the Walser hamlet in Otro, towards Colle di Zube.
