The project
Our collaboration with Simona, known on social media as “Fringe in Travel” and boasting nearly 100,000 followers, was launched with the aim of offering outdoor enthusiasts who are not yet familiar with Valsesia a selection of itineraries to help them plan their next mountain outing.

A route has been created to promote historic mountain trails, particularly the Via Regia: along the Ancient Aosta Trail, which follows Trail No. 201 to the Sottile Hermitage (2,480 m). Don’t miss a stop at Alpe Pile for a stunning view of the Monte Rosa Massif!

Explore the hiking trails Simona has walked and immerse yourself in the picturesque setting of the Valsesian mountains!
The “via regia”: alongside the antien aosta trail
The first hike we took with Simona was Trail No. 201, which leads to the Ospizio Sottile Hermitage. Recently designated as a Historic Mountain Trail, this path offers enchanting views of the Valvogna.
For centuries, Colle Valdobbia has been a transit point for merchants, travelers, and emigrants from Valsesia heading to Gressoney, Switzerland, and France. The hardships faced by travelers during their journeys in periods of heavy snowfall and the high risk of avalanches led to the construction of a mountain refuge there in 1833, which remains the highest in Europe to this day.
alpe pile: a window on monte rosa
A must- see stop at Alpe Pile, where you can enjoy a superb view of the Monte Rosa massif. The route follows trail no. 206. Next, visit the Walser Museum in Pedemonte, where you can learn about the origins of the Walser people.
The museum offers an in-depth look at the construction methods of the Walser houses in Alagna, but above all serves as a true repository of historical memory and a tool for reconstructing the sociological and anthropological aspects of Walser culture.
