“Eccellenze del Piemonte in vetrina” is a project
of the Piedmont Region, part of the program for the 92nd edition of the Alba International White Truffle Fair and organized in collaboration with Visit Piemonte, the Piedmontese Local Tourist Agencies, and the Piedmont Regional Wine Shops. The goal is to showcase—alongside the Alba White Truffle—the region’s various excellent products, engaging industry professionals and businesses in the Piedmontese agri-food and winemaking supply chain.
Towards the end of November 2022, the initiative reached the Vercelli area, and the second event in our area was the Press Tour on December 13th, which brought several journalists to discover Vercelli and its rice lands.
This initiative is in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, Visit Piemonte DMO, and the Alba Truffle Fair Authority.
itinerary
The itinerary, developed by ATL with the Piedmont Region, was created to showcase the artistic and cultural heritage of the city of Vercelli and the excellence of Baraggia rice, Italy’s first and only DOP rice.
Accompanied by the professional commentary of our tour guides, the journalists visited some of the city’s precious architectural gems, such as the Abbey of Sant’Andrea, before wandering the streets of the historic center and savoring traditional Vercelli food and wine delicacies, especially panissa. The tour then moved to Baraggia, to experience the land of rice and its protagonists firsthand with a visit to a rice farm producing the prized Baraggia Biellese and Vercellese DOP rice.
