In Viaggio col tubo Giorgio & Martina

THE PROJECT

The collaboration with Giorgio and Martina, the couple known on social networks as “In Viaggio col Tubo” , which has almost 100,000 subscribers on YouTube alone, was conceived to offer those who do not yet know the Vercelli area a fresh and complete travel guide they can make their own for a first-hand experience of what is shown on the video.

THE ITINERARY

A custom-designed itinerary is created, including some of the most symbolic and historically rich places in Vercelli. It tells us about the past and present of the rice lands, and introduces us to the Gattinara hills. A wonderful four-day journey of culture, nature and food and wine to once again confirm that these places are a genuine treasure chest of wonders.

VERCELLI AND THE RICE LANDS

The journey starts from Vercelli and its most symbolic churches: St. Andrew, the Cathedral and the Church of St. Christopher, to be discovered by wandering through the maze of alleys and squares in the city centre. Then, between a plate of panissa and a snack of bicciolani and truffles, continue your discovery of the city’s rich museum heritage: Borgogna Museum, Leone Museum, Cathedral Treasure Museum and the MAC.

The journey continues through the rice lands of Vercelli. An essential stop is a visit to the Colombara Estate to learn about the Rice-Growing Conservatory, and a stroll surrounded by memories, period photos and unique stories related by its museum track. Evening is the best time to treat yourself to an exceptional sunset over the checkered sea from Borgo Ramezzana, when the flooded rice fields turn into mirrors reflecting the sky.

FROM THE LANDS OF RICE TO THE LANDS OF WINE

In the village of Trino, the itinerary continues with two small gems of the Vercelli area: the Sorti della Partecipanza Wood, an important testimony to the past landscape of the Po Valley, and the Principality of Lucedio, where more than nine centuries ago Cistercian monks began to reclaim marshes and cultivate rice.

Heading north, the rice landscape gives way to the hills of Gattinara. One of the most fascinating places from which you can admire this exceptional view is the Vintebbio Castle, near Serravalle Sesia. Here, the sunset turns into a fairy tale!

Wine is the absolute protagonist in Gattinara, and the best way to discover all its secrets is to visit the town’s historic wine cellars and discover the aromas and flavours of some of Italy’s finest wines by tasting them at the Regionale Wine Shop of Gattinara. And what is the best way to end this trip? A walk to the Castelle Tower to say goodbye to these lands with a photo on the giant bench, following the rows of vines with your eyes.
