The wine routes
THE WINE ROUTES
Project “Le vie dei calici” (wine routes), launched in 2017 and still ongoing, aims to highlight the area’s excellence in the sector of wine. The theme of wine has given rise to a series of works of art scattered around the city, turning it into an open-air museum. Local artist Ruben Bertoldo, who works and engraves iron to create metal sculptures, has created three giant weathering steel and aluminium goblets and placed them among the vines to enhance the Nebbiolo areas of High Piedmont.
The route will soon extend to various points in Gattinara, but also to the surrounding municipalities. The sculptural and nature trail pays homage to the territory and to a local excellence, wine. The works consist of large metal goblets installed at points from which one can enjoy suggestive views of the vineyards, the Po Valley, surrounded by the Alpine range and the Mount Rosa massif. The sculptures illuminate the night by means of a LED spotlight powered by a photovoltaic panel.
